System Status

Overview
On April 18, 2007 at approximately 11:00 Hrs a snow and ice storm caused major damage to our distribution system.
In total we have experienced 20 miles of major line damage to the system this includes between 80 and 100 broken poles. This portion of line will require a complete rebuild of the conductor and the majority of the poles.
This storm caused power outages to more than of 600 REA members
We have BRREA staff and five mutual aid crews working on the repairs. These crews are using the traditional line equipment with three Nodwells to support the difficult weather conditions.
At the current rate of repair we expect to have the majority of the repairs completed by the end of the day on April 20, 2007. (Updated to End of Day April 21, 2007) (Updated to End of Day April 22, 2007)
BRREA staff have completed inspections on the distribution system to determine the magnitude of the damage.

Camrose East:
Rebuild is approx. 16 miles of single phase
(12 Miles in one section along Hwy 26)

Roundhill East: (Main Line)
Rebuild 0.5 miles of three Phase Line
A change in the damage was upgraded to 3 miles
